MISTEA (Mathematics, Informatics and STatistics for Environment and Agriculture) is a joint INRAE (MathNum department) - Institut Agro de Montpellier (SABP department) research unit. The unit is also affiliated with the University of Montpellier within the MIPS cluster.

UMR MISTEA develops mathematical, statistical and computational methods for the analysis and decision support of agronomic and environmental systems, with particular emphasis on temporal aspects. The aim of our research is to provide a better understanding and decision-making support for issues relating to agriculture and to the management and protection of natural resources. To contribute to issues such as climate change adaptation for agri-environmental systems, we work in close collaboration with researchers from other disciplines. Agriculture and environment are unique in that they produce large-scale, heterogeneous data (various spatial/temporal scales of organization and interaction, from field to table, etc.). This complexity calls for the use and development of very specific mathematical and IT tools.
