Because of the structural diversity, characterisation of phenolic compounds in plants and plant based food and non food products,  requires an integrated analytical approach. The polyphenol platform thus offers analytical, methodological and technical help, as well as expertise in mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance and chemometrics for :

·     structural characterisation
·     quantification
·     high throughput analysis of large series of samples

The Polyphenol platform is a labelled analytical facility since 2003: GIS IBiSA (Infrastructures en Biologie Santé et Agronomie), CNOC (INRA) and PRRI (Région Occitanie Pyrénées-Méditerranée).

Organisation

The Polyphenol platform hosts three divisions :
·    NMR : Dr. Christine Le Guernévé
·    Mass spectrometry : Dr. Nicolas Sommerer, Mrs. Emmanuelle Meudec and Mr. Arnaud Verbaere
·    Chemometrics : Dr. Jean-Claude Boulet

Chemometrics includes a range of data analysis techniques enabling to build stochastic models in order to predict one or more characteristics of the studied samples, starting from their spectra (MS, NMR, UV-visible, IR). Demands regarding such studies, requiring acquisition of a spectral library, must be examined by the platform committee.

Softwares:

SAS (Statistical Analysis System)
Matlab
Scilab (a free mathematics software) with the module FACT (Free Access Chemometric Toolbox) developed and maintained by the polyphenol analysis platform.
